{"id":814,"date":"2009-10-05T21:51:26","date_gmt":"2009-10-06T04:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/norwitz.net\/blog\/?p=814"},"modified":"2009-10-07T16:43:37","modified_gmt":"2009-10-07T23:43:37","slug":"poetry-suddenly-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/norwitz.net\/blog\/2009\/10\/05\/poetry-suddenly-fall\/","title":{"rendered":"Poetry: Suddenly Fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>I&#8217;ve written poetry since I was small, then heavily in my teens and twenties, including many public readings.\u00a0 But after some experiences 15 years ago, for some reason, I put down my poetry pen and mostly wrote essay-style works.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Yesterday morning I woke with a poem on the brain.\u00a0 And wanted to share it.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Suddenly Fall<\/h3>\n<p>The signs are small<br \/>\nIn the land of sun.<br \/>\nMorning&#8217;s chill wind,<br \/>\nFog&#8217;s shattered tears,<br \/>\nThe angle of shadows.<\/p>\n<p>Here, from my window<br \/>\nThat does not open,<br \/>\nI see only the sun<br \/>\nRising and setting.<br \/>\nAs if the universe goes on.<\/p>\n<p>Inside this room<br \/>\nMy body heals<br \/>\nAnd my mind stalks my soul<br \/>\nDemanding why? why? why?<\/p>\n<p>Ripped from me too soon<br \/>\nWas the sun.<br \/>\nPlaced into a world of air<br \/>\nWhere he flickered and dimmed<br \/>\nUnable to accept the wind.<\/p>\n<p>Yet outside the seasons turned<br \/>\nWithout my knowing.<br \/>\nTill finally I walked outside<br \/>\nInto the cold slap of Fall.<br \/>\nAlone.<\/p>\n<p><em>(For my son William, born September 28, 2009 by emergency c-section, and died a few hours later due to under-development of the lungs.)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve written poetry since I was small, then heavily in my teens and twenties, including many public readings.\u00a0 But after some experiences 15 years ago, for some reason, I put down my poetry pen and mostly wrote essay-style works.
